Indonesian - Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (IJEPA) is an economic partnership agreement between Indonesia and Japan that came into effect on July 1, 2008. Despite the existence of IJEPA, Indonesia's export volume to Japan has continued to decrease. Therefore, this research aims to determine the effect of IJEPA on the volume of Indonesia's exports to Japan.
This is a quantitative research, conducted with the Vector Autoregression model. The research variables are the Volume of Indonesia’s exports to Japan, the Indonesian Wholesale Trade Price Index, Japan’s Gross Domestic Product per Capita, the exchange rate of Rupiah to Yen, and IJEPA dummy from 1999 to 2023.
The research results indicate that although IJEPA has a casual correlation to the Volume of Indonesia’s exports to Japan, it has no significant effect on the volume of Indonesia’s exports to Japan. Similarly, the high Trade Price Index and Rupiah exchange rate against Yen has no significant effect on the volume of Indonesia’s exports to Japan. The only variable that shows a significant effect and is able to predict the volume of Indonesia’s exports to Japan in the future is Japan’s Gross Domestic Product pe Capita.
