Indonesia is a tropical region that has tropical rainforests. High rainfall and exposure to sunlight make forests in Indonesia rich with various types of vegetation ranging from trees, shrubs, to low-level plants. The woody plants are dominated by the Dipterocarpaceae family. Hopea bancana is a type of the Hopea genus. The conservation status of Hopea bancana according to the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species is critically endangered (CR) and is an endemic species to Musala Island. To support the conservation of Hopea bancana, basic data is needed regarding the population dynamics and demography of the Hopea bancana species in its natural habitat. These two data will provide detailed information about how and why plant population numbers change over time. The aim of this research is to create a permanent monitoring plot for oil palm (Hopea bancana) and analyze initial data on the population structure of Hopea bancana and the composition of the plant community contained in the plot. In a 0.25 hectare plot, 318 individual trees were obtained consisting of 49 species and 27 families. Among them, there are 9 individual trees of the Hopea bancana type with a trunk diameter (DBH) of more than 5 cm. The species diversity index is classified as high with a value of 3.45. The evenness index on the plot is 0.45, which indicates that population uniformity is moderate. The structure of the stand resembles an inverted letter "J". This research location is a mature forest whose ecosystem is not disturbed. The total biomass of all tree species is 166.42 tonnes/ha which is relatively low.en_US
