dc.description.abstract | The quality of wood can be improved by densification using temperature
and compression pressure. This research aims to determine the effect of pressure
on the physical and mechanical properties of three types of wood namely, Sengon
wood (Albizia falcataria), Jabon (Neolamarckia cadamba), and Kapuk (Ceiba
petandra). The three types of wood were treated with compression temperatures,
namely: 140°C, 160°C and 180°C, with compression pressures of 20 kgf/cm², 25
kgf/cm² and 30 kgf/cm². The research results show that the highest wood density is
found in kapok wood at 0.67 g/cm3 and the lowest in wood at 0.44 g/cm3. The
highest wood moisture content is found in Jabon wood at 15.20% and the lowest
in sengon wood at 11.70%. Jabon wood with the highest average wood hardness
of 256 kg/m3, and the lowest for sengon wood at 154 kg/m3. The highest wood
MOE value is found in kapok wood at 52,904 kg/cm² and the lowest is in jabon
wood at 35,540 kg/cm². The highest MOR value was found in sengon wood at 339
kg/cm² and the lowest was in jabon wood at 238 kg/cm². | en_US |
