PT. Perkebunan Sumatera Utara Tanjung Kasau is a company engaged in the
plantation and processing of palm oil that produces CPO (Crude Palm Oil) which
is carried out at 6 processing stage stations, where the process at each station
involves machines and equipment that can be potentially dangerous for workers.
This study aims to determine the assessment of occupational safety and health risks
in crude palm oil production at PT Perkebunan Sumatera Utara Tanjung Kasau in
2024. This type of research is observational research with the research objects of
production stations at PT Perkebunan Sumatera Utara, namely the TBS receiving
station (loading ramp), boiling station (sterilizer), threshing station (bunch press),
pressing station (press), clarification station and kernel station (core) using
descriptive analytical data analysis methods. The results of this study indicate that
the highest possible assessment of CPO production at PT. Perkebunan Sumatera
Utara Tanjung Kasau is 4 (most likely to occur), the highest severity assessment is
4 (severe) and the highest risk level assessment is High risk. Risk assessment shows
variation in risk level in each production station, namely loading ramp station,
sterilizer station, and bunch press have high risk, while press station and
clarification station and all stations including kernel, also have low risk. Therefore,
it is suggested to improve the bent ladder in the loading ramp section, the company
gives warning to workers who do not follow the procedure in using PPE, workers
must be more careful about exposure to hot steam during the boiling process, and
conduct ear health checks on workers.
