dc.description.abstractThis research aims to determine and explain the relationship between the design and structure of people's houses in Hokkaido, Japan, with environmental conditions (climate, geography) and local culture. The research method used is a qualitative method, namely data collection techniques carried out by documentation, observation and literature study using sources from journals, articles, books, results of previous research, and other sources obtained from the internet. The theories used in this research are: fudo theory, structural theory, and functional theory. Focusing on the extreme geography and climate in Hokkaido, such as cold temperatures and very high snowfall, which influence the shape and structure of miuka houses in Hokkaido. In this way, readers can understand the unique physical characteristics and design of minka in the Hokkaido region, as well as explain how geographical and climatic conditions influence architectural form and design. with a focus on adaptation to cold temperatures, high snowfall and other environmental conditions.en_US
