Machine maintenance is an important factor in maintaining operational efficiency and
preventing losses due to downtime. PT Rahmat Kurnia Abadi is a company engaged in
the manufacturing of electrical panel boxes. Based on the research conducted, the
company is facing issues with not meeting production targets. The average percentage
of production target achievement for the year 2023 is 68%, with the company's
tolerance set at 85%. The main cause of this failure is attributed to downtime during
machine maintenance activities, which increased downtime by 2.40%. As a result,
maintenance activities led to increased time and costs in maintenance operations. This
research aims to analyze the improvement of machine maintenance methods by
reducing downtime frequency using a lean maintenance approach. Lean Maintenance
is an approach aimed at reducing waste, downtime, costs, and improving efficiency in
maintenance operations. The methods used in lean maintenance are maintenance value
stream mapping (MVSM), maintenance intervals, and lean probability. The results
obtained show two wastes that increase maintenance time, namely waiting for
maintenance resources and unnecessary motion. Downtime reduction is achieved by
scheduling maintenance for 57,559.0 minutes and a repair duration of 133.75 minutes,
resulting in a decrease in downtime frequency of 236 minutes from 390 minutes. A
decrease in maintenance costs of IDR 8,781,691 from IDR 11,447,621. Improvements
in machine maintenance methods carried out through lean maintenance resulted in an
increase in maintenance efficiency of 86.36% and a production target increase of
6.36%.
