Professional Pharmacist Internship (PKPA) at the Government Agency of the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) located at Jl. Percetakan Negara No. 23, Central Jakarta 10520, was conducted from March 4, 2024, to March 30, 2024, from 08:00 to 16:30 WIB on Mondays to Thursdays and from 08:00 to 16:00 WIB on Fridays. The purpose of this PKPA was to equip and enhance the understanding of prospective pharmacists regarding the roles, functions, and responsibilities of pharmacists in pharmaceutical services within a government institution by directly observing the implementation of pharmaceutical services at the Jakarta Food and Drug Supervisory Agency.
The PKPA activities carried out at the Jakarta Food and Drug Supervisory Agency included an orientation aimed at providing a basic understanding of the agency's structure, covering various Deputies and Directorates within BPOM. This orientation discussed the main duties and functions of different directorates, regulations in the field of drug and food supervision from various directorates, policies, working methods, and procedures for supervision, inspection, and testing across different directorates. Subsequently, the internship was conducted in each respective directorate to provide practical experience to prospective pharmacists according to the directorate they were assigned to. During the internship, prospective pharmacists were given tasks and responsibilities by their respective directorate supervisors, aimed at enhancing their understanding and skills in the field of drug and food supervision in line with their assigned directorate, as well as providing practical experience in working within a government institution.
A presentation of the results of the Professional Pharmacist Internship (PKPA) was held at the end of the PKPA activities, aimed at demonstrating the understanding and skills acquired by the prospective pharmacists during their internship in each directorate. Prospective pharmacists placed in different directorates were able to learn from each other about the internship experiences in directorates where they were not stationed.
