dc.description.abstractThe waste produced by tofu dregs contains cellulose compounds which can be used as a basic ingredient in making active carbon. The aim of this research is to determine how to make active carbon by utilizing tofu dregs waste, determine the percentage results of reducing cadmium metal levels in drilled well water before and after adding tofu dregs activated carbon and analyze the effect ofNaCl activator concentration in reducing cadmium metal (Cd) The process of making activated carbon goes through several stages, namely dehydration, carbonization at a temperature of 300°C and chemical activation with varying NaCl concentrations of 5%, 10% and 15%. Characterization of activated carbon using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD). Determination of Cadmium (Cd) metal content in drilled well water before and after adding activated carbon using an atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS) with a specific wavelength, namely Cd = 228.8 nm. The research results showed that the concentration of cadmium metal in drilled well water had decreased. Activated carbon from tofu dregs with varying NaCl activator concentrations of 5%, 10%, and 15% absorbed cadmium metal by 59,38%, 46,88%, and 50%. The best concentration for making active carbon from tofu dregs is by adding a concentration of 5% NaCl.en_US
