Abstract

Lack of understanding of service users about the warranty provisions provided by business actors is one of the problems that are often encountered. The purpose of the study was to determine the provisions of protection for service users related to the warranty for passenger car repair services at the Bancin Generations Motors workshop in Medan City. Efforts to overcome obstacles for service users to obtain legal protection related to the warranty for passenger car repair services at the Bancin Generations Motors workshop in Medan City. This type of research is empirical legal research, the nature of the research used is prescriptive. The approach in this study is statutory. The data analysis used is qualitative, and conclusions are drawn deductively. The protection provisions for service users related to the warranty for passenger car repair services at the Bancin Generations Motors workshop in Medan City, namely the warranty principle is a commitment from the workshop to provide repair services that meet certain standards. Workshops usually offer a limited warranty that includes a guarantee on the quality of repairs and spare parts used. The obstacle for service users to obtain legal protection when applying for a warranty for passenger car repair services at the Bancin Generations Motors workshop in Medan City is the lack of clarity in the warranty provisions. The time limit at the Bancin Generations Motors workshop in Medan City is 14 days (two weeks), if it passes that period, service users will certainly not be able to apply for their warranty even though it is proven to be a mechanical error.
