dc.description.abstract | FERDINAN AMSTRONG MANULLANG. Characteristics of Humbang Hasundutan Plateau Peat Soil on Coffee, Rice Fields and Horticulture (Under the guidance of Ir. Bintang Sitorus, MP.)
Survey research examines the physical and chemical properties of peat soil on different types of land use and natural land in Dolok Sanggul District, Humbang Hasundutan Regency from April 2024 to August 2024. The aim is to determine the differences in several physical and chemical properties of peat soil on different types of use. land with natural peatlands. Soil analysis was carried out at the Chemical Laboratory and Central Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra. This research used 12 samples from 3 different types of land use and natural land. Soil analysis includes undisturbed samples, namely bulk density, water content, particle density, porosity, peat maturity and peat color. For disturbed samples, namely pH and C-Organic.
The research results show that land use can influence the physical and chemical properties of peat soil. The average bulk density value (Bulk Density) on coffee land is 0.38 g/cm3, on rice fields the average bulk density is 0.31 g/cm3, on horticultural land the average bulk weight is 0.25 g/cm3 while on natural land the average bulk weight is 0.29 g/cm3. The average particle density value on coffee fields is 0.76 g/cm3, on rice fields the average particle density is 0.77g/cm3, on horticultural fields the average particle density is 0.63g/cm3. cm3, while the specific gravity of particles in natural land averages 0.97 g/cm3. The porosity value on coffee land is an average of 50%, on rice fields the average is 58%, on horticultural land the average is 60%, while on natural land the average porosity value is 69%. The average water content value on coffee land is 267.2%, on rice fields the average water content is 287.7%, on horticultural land the average water content is 318.03% while on natural land the average water content is 469%. .96%. The average pH value on coffee land is 3.96, on rice fields the average pH is 3.62, on horticultural land the average pH is 3.68, while on natural land the average pH is 3.23. The C-Organic value on coffee land averages 50.41%, on rice fields the C-Organic value averages 49.61%, on horticultural land the average C-Organic value is 49.30%, while the C-Organic value Organic on natural land averages 48.47%. The dominant level of peat soil maturity in Dolok Sanggul subdistrict is hemic maturity and the other maturity level is saprik. The color of the peat soil in Dolok Sanggul District is dominated by dark reddish brown and there are also very dull red and reddish black. | en_US |
