Pemanfaatan Zeolit Sintesis dari Limbah Fly Ash Sebagai Adsorben Logam Mangan (Mn) pada Air Sumur Bor di Kawasan Deli Tua
Utilization of Zynthesis Zeolite from Fly Ash Waste as Manganese (Mn) Metal Adsorbent in Well Water in the Deli Tua Area
Abstract
Fly ash waste is a waste that has not received optimal treatment in its
utilization until now. Fly Ash has a high Silica (Si) and Aluminum (Al) content so it is
suitable to be used as a synthetic zeolite that has an aluminosilicate framework. Fly
ash that has been synthesized into zeolite has more open pores so it has the potential
to be used as an adsorbent in reducing heavy metals, one of which is Manganese
(Mn). This study aims to examine the characteristics of synthetic zeolite from fly ash
waste and its absorption percentage (%) based on variations in contact time, pH and
initial concentration of the solution. The manufacture of synthetic zeolite is carried
out by chemical base activation using NaOH and heated in a furnace at a
temperature of 550°C for 1 hour. Synthetic zeolite from fly ash waste is confirmed to
have an aluminosilicate framework and characteristics which are the main
composition of the zeolite making framework. The adsorption power of synthetic
zeolite with the influence of variations in contact time, pH and concentration
increases with increasing contact time, pH and sample concentration. The highest
adsorption percentage (%) in contact time variation was obtained at 90 minutes with
a percentage (%) decrease of 33.71%, and in pH variation it was obtained at pH 8
with a percentage (%) decrease of 98.08%, and in concentration variation it was
obtained at a concentration of 200 ppm with a percentage (%) decrease of 99.98%
which is close to 100%.
