    Abstract
    Determining superior food commodities in Tambangan District, Mandailing Natal Regency using the Analytical Hierarchy Process method has never been carried out before, so research was carried out aimed at identifying and determining superior food commodities in the area. The method used is the AHP method, which is a decision-making approach that considers various criteria to determine the priority of several alternatives. Data collection was carried out through interview methods, filling out questionnaires and documentation. The AHP process begins by creating a hierarchical structure of the problem, followed by creating a pairwise comparison matrix which is processed using Microsoft Excel. In the analysis, the weight of each criterion is determined through normalization of the pairwise comparison matrix. The maximum eigen values and normalized eigen vectors were then calculated. The consistency test is carried out with the condition that the Consistency Ratio (CR) < 0.1 to ensure the assessment is consistent. Various types of food crops are considered as alternatives in the analysis. The final results show that rice is the leading food commodity in Tambangan District with a weight of 41%, based on all the specified criteria
