dc.description.abstract | Moisturizing gel is one of the treatments that aims to improve dry skin with ingredients contained in cosmetics. Pineapple crown (Ananas comosus L. Merr) is known to contain flavonoid compounds that have the potential to increase antioxidant activity by preventing the formation of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS). Moisturizing gel with active ingredient of pineapple crown ethanol extract is one form of facial treatment to improve dry skin and can ward off free radicals. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of pineapple crown ethanol extract in the form of Moisturizing gel preparations in ward off free radicals. The preparation of pineapple crown extract was carried out by the maceration method using 70% ethanol solvent. The antioxidant activity test method used the DPPH method (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl). Moisturizing gel formulation with pineapple crown ethanol extract concentrations of 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%. Moisturizing gel preparations were tested for organoleptic, homogeneity, viscosity, pH, irritation test, moisture test and antioxidant activity test. The results of this study indicate that the Moisturizing gel preparation is in gel form, brown in color, has a distinctive lavender aroma, is homogeneous, pH 7.20-7.45, viscosity 12974-22454 cP, increased humidity to water content up to 18% and oil content up to 8.1%, IC50 value 73.7207-92.2144 ppm is included in the strong category and does not cause skin irritation. | en_US |
