    Abstract
The denture base is a part of the removable denture that is supported by a good adaptation to the underlying oral tissues to improve the tissue contour where the denture components attach, as well as receiving support from the abutment teeth or residual alveolar bone tissue. Heat-polymerized acrylic resin is commonly used to create denture bases, but heat-polymerized acrylic resin (RAPP) has some drawbacks, such as low impact strength, which makes it more prone to fracture. This issue can be addressed by adding betung bamboo fiber nanocellulose, anocellulose has smaller particle sizes and better homogeneity. This study aims to determine whether the addition of betung bamboo fiber nanocellulose at concentrations of 0.5%, 0.75%, and 1% to RAPP denture bases affects impact strength. The research design is experimental laboratory-based. The study involved dividing the samples into four groups: A, B, C, and D, with 32 samples measuring 65 × 10 × 2.5 ± 0.5 mm. Each group consisted of 8 samples for impact strength testing. The results were analyzed using univariate analysis, One-way ANOVA, and LSD tests. The impact strength test used the Charpy impact testing tool. The impact strength of heat-polymerized acrylic resin without the addition of betung bamboo fiber nanocellulose was 9.99 ± 1.63 x 10-3 J/mm², the addition of betung bamboo fiber nanocellulose 0.5% bamboo fiber was 12.05 ± 0.84 x 10-3 J/mm², the addition of betung bamboo fiber nanocellulose 0.75% was 13.8 ± 0.75 x 10-3 J/mm², and the addition of betung bamboo fiber nanocellulose 1% was 14.58 ± 0.88 x 10-3 J/mm². According to the One-way ANOVA test, the significance value obtained was p = 0.0001 (p < 0.05) for impact strength, indicating a significant effect of the addition on heat-polymerized acrylic resin. The results of the One-way ANOVA showed a significant effect of the addition of betung bamboo fiber nanocellulose at concentrations of 0.5%, 0.75%, and 1% on impact strength. An LSD test was then conducted, showing significant differences in impact strength between the group without the addition of betung bamboo fiber nanocellulose and the group with 0.5% addition p = 0.001, (p < 0.05), between the group without the addition of betung bamboo fiber nanocellulose and the group with 0.75% addition p = 0.0001, (p < 0.05), between the group without the addition of betung bamboo fiber nanocellulose and the group with 1% addition p = 0.0001, (p < 0.05), between the 0.5% and 0.75% betung bamboo fiber nanocellulose addition groups p = 0.003, (p < 0.05), and between the 0.5% and 1% betung bamboo fiber nanocellulose addition groups p = 0.0001, (p < 0.05). This study concludes that betung bamboo fiber nanocellulose can be utilized as a reinforcement material for heat-polymerized acrylic resin denture bases, provided that the optimal concentration is considered. This research shows that the optimal concentration of betung bamboo fiber nanocellulose for improving impact strength is 1%.
