    Abstract
Myristic acid is highly useful and in great demand in various skincare and body care products. Myristic acid is produced from palm kernel oil (PKO) through a continuous fat splitting process followed by crystallization. The main objective of this preliminary plant design is to evaluate the feasibility of establishing a factory. This preliminary design is for a myristic acid plant from palm kernel oil (PKO) with a continuous fat splitting process, with a capacity of 15,000 tons per year and operating for 330 days per year. The main process in this plant design consists of four stages: raw material preparation, hydrolysis stage, and crystallization stage. The myristic acid plant from PKO is planned to be located in the Sei Mangkei Special Economic Zone, Bosar Malingas, Simalungun Regency, covering an area of 42,550 m², requiring a workforce of 169 people, and will operate as a Limited Liability Company (PT), led by four directors under a line and staff organizational system. The investment required for the establishment and operation is IDR 2,019,152,898,041.68, with a production cost of IDR 2,308,901,075,541.00. Based on the feasibility analysis, the plant has a BEP of 30.01%, ROI of 17.42%, a payback period (POT) of 5.74 years, RON of 29.03%, and an IRR of 21%. From the economic analysis results, it can be concluded that the preliminary design of the myristic acid plant from palm kernel oil (PKO) using the continuous fat splitting process is feasible to establish.
