Online games, as part of the internet, have a significant impact on daily life. High- intensity online gaming can affect students' emotional intelligence, which is the ability to manage one's own emotions and those of others. The impact of online game usage is particularly felt by students who frequently engage in gaming activities. This study aims to analyze the relationship between online game usage intensity and emotional intelligence among nursing students at Universitas Sumatera Utara. The research employs a descriptive correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consists of 84 students selected using stratified random sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using the Spearman's Rho statistical test. The results indicate a significant negative relationship between online game usage intensity and emotional intelligence among nursing students at Universitas Sumatera Utara, with a Spearman's Rho value of -0.753 and a p-value of 0,000 (p < 0.05). This suggests that lower online game usage intensity is associated with higher emotional intelligence among students. The study found that 48 students (57.1%) had low levels of online game usage intensity, while 45 students (53.6%) had good emotional intelligence. This study is expected to further compare the intensity of online game usage between male and female students.en_US
