Children with Down syndrome are children who have below-average intellectual abilities and tend to have limitati ons in terms of intelligence, physical, emotional and social. Children with Down syndrome often experience a drooling condition that can affect the flow rate and pH of saliva. In addition, the differences in limitations they have with normal children affect the behavior of children with Down syndrome in maintaining the cleanliness of their oral cavity. The purpose of this study was to determine the average value of salivary flow rate and pH as well as OHIS score in children with Down syndrome. This type of research is descriptive with a cross-sectional design. Sampling technique in total sampling. Data collection was carried out through the measurement of the average flow rate and pH of saliva as well as OHIS scores. The results showed an average salivary flow rate of 0.33±0.06 ml/min and a pH of 7.19±0.19. From the results obtained, it can be concluded that the rate of saliva flow in children with Down syndrome is in the normal category, with a more alkaline saliva pH while the OHIS score tends to be worse than that of normal children. Although the results of this study show that the saliva flow rate and pH of children with Down syndrome are normal, but seeing a worse OHIS score, parents and companions should pay more attention to the oral hygiene of children with Down syndrome so that they can improve their oral hygiene status to reduce the risk of dental disease.
