In the field of dentistry, the use of impression materials is carried out to obtain a negative impression of the oral cavity tissues. Dental impressions are easily contaminated by saliva and blood from the patient, which can trigger cross-infection not only between the dentist and the patient but also to the laboratory technician. A self-disinfecting method for irreversible hydrocolloid impression materials was developed by mixing disinfectant material with the impression material. This method reduces the number of bacteria on the impression material overall without affecting dimensional stability, compared to soaking and spraying methods, and can also shorten the disinfection time. The aim of this study is to evaluate the dimensional changes in impressions made with alginate impression material mixed with 0.2% chlorhexidine antiseptic mouthwash, essential oil, and propolis. The samples in this study were die stones from master die impressions shaped like cones, with a height of 10 mm, a bottom diameter of 8.16 mm, and an upper diameter of 6.60 mm. The sample size was ten pieces for each group: group I (impressions made with alginate mixed with distilled water), group II (mixed with 0.2% chlorhexidine antiseptic mouthwash), group III (mixed with essential oil antiseptic mouthwash), and group IV (mixed with propolis antiseptic mouthwash). The alginate powder and liquid were mixed in a ratio according to the manufacturer's instructions. Stirring was done rapidly and continuously, with the spatula pressed against the rubber bowl's wall in a figure-eight motion. The upper diameter of the die stone was measured using a digital caliper. The normality test results indicated a normal distribution, so the data analysis was performed using one-way ANOVA (p < 0.05), followed by LSD for the post hoc test. The results showed that the average diameter for group I was 6.622±0.013 mm, for group II was 6.624±0.012 mm, for group III was 6.624±0.010 mm, and for group IV was 6.65±0.002 mm. One-way ANOVA testing revealed significant dimensional changes in impressions made with different antiseptic mouthwash types (p = 0.00), with no significant dimensional change between group I and group II (p = 0.67) and group I and group III (p = 1.00). However, there were significant dimensional changes between group I and group IV (p = 0.00). It can be concluded that the highest dimensional change occurred in impressions made with alginate mixed with propolis antiseptic mouthwash, with significant changes.en_US
