Water is one of the basic human needs that is always used by humans to meet their needs both for consumption and for bathing and washing. Water itself can be sourced from various kinds, one of which is groundwater. Groundwater in Indonesia is widely used by the surrounding community, groundwater itself is obtained from dug wells and borewells, one example of groundwater utilization is found in an area with a radius of 0-700 m from the Terjun Landfill, Terjun Village, Medan Marelan District, North Sumatra. Groundwater itself contains various kinds of minerals as well as heavy metals and organic substances in it, which can come from outside or from within the soil itself. This study uses the Groundwater Quality Index (GWQI) method to analyze and determine the content of heavy metals and organic substances in it, along with the GWQI score and its suitability for consumption.
