    Abstract
Occlusion imbalance, cervical spine, leg length, and asymmetric leg length related to muscle compensation still show a lack of clear causal relationship due to limited diagnostic tools. Chewing habits on one side are one of the etiologies of malocclusion that affect occlusion balance. Body mass also affects postural balance. Therefore, this study was conducted to test a modified body mass balance diagnostic tool with plantar foot pressure (IDS000009315) in patients with skeletal Class I malocclusion. Furthermore, an analysis of the relationship between chewing side habits and physical conditions associated with body mass index and plantar foot pressure was also carried out. This research method is descriptive analytical with a cross-sectional design approach and clinical experiments in patients based on prototype testing. Measurement of plantar foot pressure with a body mass balance detector for malocclusion patients and observation of chewing side habits using the chi-square test. The result showed no significant relationship between chewing side habits and plantar pressure of the feet in removable orthodontic patients with skeletal class I malocclusion at RSGM USU (p = 0.0514; p> 0.05). This means that testing this tool is less appropriate for use in pediatric patients because of the variable body mass balance that varies and needs to be considered for further research. In addition, the limitations of cross-sectional studies on growth and development problems require longitudinal research
