dc.description.abstract | Activated carbon is an amorphous compound produced from materials containing carbon. One of the materials that can be used to make activated carbon is corn cob husks which are still underutilized. This research was conducted to reduce iron (Fe) levels using activated carbon from corn cobs with H3PO4 activator in drilled well water. The activated carbon obtained was characterized using X-Ray Fluorescence. The concentration of iron metal (Fe) was determined in samples before and after the addition of corncob activated carbon using an Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS). The research results showed that the concentration of iron
metal (Fe) in drilled well water after adding corn cob activated carbon decreased.
Corncob activated carbon with variations of H3PO4 activator 20%, 30%, 40% can absorb iron metal (Fe) by 79%; 99.66%; 58.96% . This research shows that the highest percentage (%) in reducing iron metal (Fe) using corncob activated carbon with an activator was obtained at a H3PO4 concentration of 30%. | en_US |
