dc.description.abstract | This study, titled "Student Catharsis Through Nonverbal Communication In The Riddikulus 'Stress Room' Arena In Medan City," examines the utilization of the "Stress Room" as a means of catharsis for students in Medan, focusing on nonverbal communication in emotional expression. As Aristotle proposed, catharsis is understood as the release of pent-up emotions through verbal and nonverbal physical expression. Through interviews with students who have used the Stress Room, it was found that destroying objects provides relief and freedom in expressing negative emotions that are difficult to convey through words. This nonverbal communication is considered an effective method for emotional regulation, as indicated by positive changes in emotional stability and participants’ readiness to face academic and social pressures. The Stress Room has also proven to be a medium that helps students manage stress constructively, reduce aggression potential, and encourage better self-understanding. However, there are concerns about dependency on destructive actions, which may impact individuals if access to this facility is no longer available. The findings of this study are expected to provide insights into developing alternative methods of emotion management and encourage the provision of safe and effective spaces for students to cope with academic life pressures. | en_US |
