dc.description.abstract | Background: Tonicum is an ingredient or mixture of ingredients that can
strengthen the body or increase the body's energy of a person. This tonic effect is
due to stimulation of the Central Nervous System (CNS). Previous research
mentioned Moringa leaf drink has anti-tiredness activity. However, there is no
research that examines the tonic activity of moringa leaves.
Objective: To test the tonic effect of moringa leaf ethanol extract on MSG-induced
male white mice and the best dose of moringa leaf ethanol extract in providing a
tonic effect on MSG-induced male white mice.
Method: This study was conducted experimentally using 5 groups namely K(-)
(Na-CMC 0.5%), K(+) (Caffeine 13 mg/kg BW), (EEDK doses of 100, 200, and
400 mg/kg BW). Each group consisted of 5 mice that were induced with a dose of
MSG 4000 mg/kgBB and then given the test preparation for 14 days, motor
coordination assessment was carried out using the rotarod performance test method
on day 15.
Results: The average percentage increase of tonic effect in K(-), K(+), P1, P2, P3
were -68.32±1.18; 152.44±0.89; 11.13±0.78; 59.44±1.48; 92.18±1.09. Data
analysis was normally distributed and homogeneous. One way anova test obtained
a significance value of p (0.000) <0.05. Post hoc test has a significant difference (p
< 0.05) between K(-) with K(+), K(+) with P1, K(+) with P2, K(+) with P3.
Conclusion: Moringa leaf ethanol extract (Moringa oleifera) has a tonic effect on
male white mice (Mus musculus) induced by MSG with an optimum dose of
(400mg/kgBB). | en_US |
