Pengaruh Pemberian Gel Ekstrak Daun Belimbing Wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) 10% Terhadap Penyembuhan Ulkus Traumatik Pada Mukosa Tikus Wistar

Abstract

Traumatic ulcers are the oral cavity diseases caused by trauma, whether physical, thermal or chemical trauma, with a fairly high prevalence. The treatment of traumatic ulcers using chemical medicines usually causes various undesirable side effects, so herbal medicines made from natural ingredients are needed as a safe alternative to accelerate the healing process, namely using starfruit leaves (Averrhoa bilimbi L.). This study was aimed to determine the effect of 10% starfruit (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) leaves extract gel in traumatic ulcers healing in terms of ulcer size and erythema. The design of this study is Pre-Test and Post-Test Nonequivalent Control Group Design.. This study was carried out on 32 Wistar rats which were divided into two groups, namely the treatment group given 10% starfruit (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) leaves extract gel and the negative control group given CMC-Na basic gel (placebo). Observations of ulcer size and erythema were carried out on days 0, 2, 4, and 6. Data analysis was carried out using the Mann-Whitney test and Chi-Square test. The results of this study showed that 10 % starfruit leaves extract gel had a significant effect on the healing of traumatic ulcers in terms of ulcer size on days 2, 4 and 6 (p<0.05) and against erythema (p<0.05 ). In conclusion, starfruit leaves extract gel has proven to have a significant effect in helping traumatic ulcers healing.
