dc.description.abstractThis study was motivated by the case of toxic parenting experienced by students at SMA Tamansiswa Pematangsiantar which has the potential to affect their academic achievement. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of toxic parenting on student academic achievement at SMA Tamansiswa Pematangsiantar. The study used a quantitative approach with an explanatory research type. Sampling using a simple random sampling technique with the Slovin formula, resulting in 90 respondents from a total population of 868 students. Data collection was carried out through closed questionnaires and documentation. Data analysis used simple linear regression. The results showed that toxic parenting had a significant effect on student academic achievement with a significance value of 0.000 <0.05. The coefficient of determination (R Square) value of 0.156 indicates that toxic parenting can explain the variation in student academic achievement by 15.6%, while 84.4% is explained by other factors. The conclusion of this study proves the significant effect of toxic parenting on student academic achievement at SMA Tamansiswa Pematangsiantar.en_US
