Stainless steel orthodontic wire is a commonly used wire in orthodontic treatment. Oral conditions such as pH, temperature, and exposure to a substance can affect the resilience of orthodontic wires. This study aimed to determine the effect of stainless steel orthodontic wire resilience before and after immersion in artificial saliva and ethanol extract of African leaf (Vernonia amygdalina Del.) 1560 ppm for 7 days. This study used stainless steel orthodontic wire (American Orthodontics®) in 30 samples with a diameter of 0.016 inches and a length of 5 cm. There were 3 groups: before immersion, after immersion in artificial saliva and after immersion in African leaf ethanol extract (Vernonia amygdalina Del.) 1560 ppm. Samples were immersed in the solution and stored in an incubator at 37°C for 7 days. Wire resilience testing was conducted using a universal testing machine. The results of Paired T-test showed that there was a significant difference between before and after immersion artificial saliva (p<0,05) and there was a significant difference between before and after immersion African leaf ethanol extract (Vernonia amygdalina Del.) 1560 ppm (p<0,05). The results of Independent T-test showed that there was a significant difference in resilience after immersion in artificial saliva and African leaf ethanol extract (Vernonia amygdalina Del.) 1560 ppm (p<0.05).This study concludes that there is a significant difference in the resilience of stainless steel orthodontic wires in artificial saliva immersion and ethanol extract of African leaves (Vernonia amygdalina Del.) 1560 ppm.en_US
