    Abstract
Nursing care is a key component of healthcare service quality in hospitals, playing a crucial role in meeting patient needs and facilitating recovery. However, low nurse motivation can lead to patient dissatisfaction and a decline in the quality of nursing care. The clinical supervision conducted by head nurses serves as a nursing management process to monitor and improve professional nursing performance, ensuring work effectiveness based on nursing care standards. As a form of coaching and oversight, clinical supervision can be a solution to enhance nurses' work motivation. This study aims to identify the relationship between clinical supervision and the work motivation of care-providing nurses in hospitals in Medan. The study was conducted at Dr. Pirngadi General Hospital. A descriptive correlational design with a cross-sectional approach was employed. The sample consisted of 98 inpatient nurses selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire covering aspects of clinical supervision and work motivation. Bivariate analysis using the Spearman's rho test revealed a significant relationship between clinical supervision and nurses' work motivation (p<0.05) with a strong correlation (r = 0.637). The most prevalent type of clinical supervision was formative, while the highest motivation type observed was intrinsic motivation. The study concludes that effective clinical supervision can enhance nurses' work motivation and contribute to the quality of nursing care in hospitals. It's recommended that clinical supervision be continuously implemented by ward managers. Developing clinical supervision strategies for nurses is essential, as it has been shown to improve work motivation and positively impact nurse performance in hospitals.
