Abstract
Study analyzes the potential and development strategy of mangrove ecotourism in Salahaji Village, Pematang Jaya District, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra Province. Mangrove ecosystems play an essential ecological role and have
significant potential as an ecotourism attraction. The research methods used
include the Tourism Suitability Index, Carrying Capacity Analysis, and SWOT
Analysis. The results indicate that the mangrove ecosystem in Salahaji Village has
high potential for ecotourism development, with activities such as fishing, boating,
river tracking, and mangrove tourism. However, the main challenges include
inadequate supporting infrastructure, limited accessibility, and low tourism
promotion. Recommended strategies include improving facilities, optimizing
tourism promotion, and implementing community-based management for
sustainable ecotourism. Structured and sustainable development is expected to provide economic benefits to the local community while preserving the mangrove
ecosystem.
