This study is motivated by fluctuations in employee career development at PT Pegadaian
Kanwil I Medan, particularly concerning job transfers and promotions that impact career
development. The aim of this study is to analyze the effect of job transfers and promotions
on employee career development. A quantitative method with an associative approach
was used, employing multiple linear regression analysis. Data were collected through
questionnaires distributed to employees at PT Pegadaian Kanwil I Medan. The results
show that job transfers have a positive and significant effect on career development (t
statistics = 4.321; p-value = 0.000), as does promotion, which also shows a positive and
significant effect (t-statistics = 2.876; p-value = 0.004). Simultaneously, both variables
significantly influence career development, with an F-value of 10.708 (p-value < 0.001).
This study recommends PT Pegadaian strengthen its structured transfer and promotion
policies and provide continuous training to enhance employee skills and organizational
effectiveness.
