Art is a manifestation of ideas, thoughts, feelings and emotional turmoil expressed through beautiful or attractive elements to fulfill human needs. Contemporary art, as a product that has developed since World War II, is not bound by the rules of the past and develops in accordance with modern times. An art gallery functions as a permanent facility used to display and exhibit works of art, as well as as a means of education and entertainment for the community. In the city of Medan, the development of fine arts is still lagging behind compared to other large cities in Indonesia, mainly due to the lack of adequate space and facilities for artistic exploration. Therefore, designing a Contemporary Art Gallery with a metaphorical architectural approach is very necessary. This approach not only conveys a particular message or concept clearly, but also creates a unique and interesting visual experience, thereby increasing the appeal and aesthetic value of the building. The contemporary art gallery designed with a metaphorical architectural approach will become a meeting place between local artists and the community, as well as a medium for publishing contemporary art works to a wide audience, allowing them to get to know and appreciate contemporary art.en_US
