dc.description.abstract | The rapid advancement of technology today has brought many changes to
human life. Not only changes in daily life, rapid technological developments have
even changed the way the international community fights. Drones or unmanned
aircraft are a technology that is quite massively used by the enemy against their
opponents in war. In its development, the use of drones has brought losses to
civilians who are not involved in the war. Through this thesis research, several
legal questions will be raised relating to the regulation of the use of weapons in
armed conflict in international law, the regulation of the use of drones in armed
conflict, and the differences for each country in regulating the use of drones.
The research method used in this thesis research is a descriptive normative
legal research method. The data used in this thesis research is secondary data with
primary legal materials such as laws and regulations, conventions, treaties, books,
and so on.
This study concludes that the use of drones has not been regulated in
international conventions. With such a legal vacuum, it causes opponents with more
sophisticated technological capabilities to use drones without limits. However, the
legal vacuum regarding the regulation of drones as weapons of war does not
immediately make state boundaries disappear. In principle, every country is
required to comply with regulations that confirm the boundaries of each country's
air zones. In its development, although the use of drones is not regulated in
international conventions, several countries have already regulated the use of
drones in their country's territory. These countries are Indonesia, Hong Kong, the
United States, and Canada. | en_US |
