Bioskop Gentala Takengon (1979-1997)

Abstract

This research discusses the Gentala Cinema Takengon in the period 1979-1997. This research aims to explain the establishment and management of the Gentala cinema, the operations and management of the Gentala cinema and the main factors that caused the Gentala cinema to close. The research method used is the historical method, with the steps of heuristics, criticism, interpretation and historiography. Data was collected through observation, interviews and literature studies, by analyzing sources, such as books, previous research and documents regarding the Gentala Takengon cinema. The results showed that the faounder before switching to the private sector1979 under a 15-year contract. Under the management of the private party led by Omar Bach, Gentala cinema became the entertainment choice of the Takengon community. Gentala Cinema shows various types of films both national and international. The operation of Gentala cinema depends on the number of spectators present. Therefore, in 1997, Gentala Cinema had to stop operating due to the decline in the number of spectators. This is due to the rapid development of technology such as the emergence of television with various entertainment options and the presence of video cassettes such as VCD and DVD which makes people switch to looking for entertainment that is easier without and flexible.
