dc.description.abstract | This study analyzes the translation of Indonesian scouting terms into English, focusing on the degree of equivalence based on Roger T. Bell’s definition (1991). The data comprised 84 terms and were sourced from an amateur scouting website. The terms were analyzed qualitatively, categorized alphabetically, and classified into four degrees of equivalence: fully equivalent, partial equivalent with increased meaning, partial equivalent with decreased meaning, and non-equivalent. The results revealed 28 fully equivalent terms, 38 partial equivalent with increased meaning, 13 partial equivalent with decreased meaning, and 4 non-equivalent terms, with 1 term deemed invalid due to incomplete data. The findings highlight that historical, cultural, and symbolic differences significantly impact translation equivalence. Terms with partial or no equivalence can be improved, though some concepts unique to the source language present challenges in achieving direct equivalence. | en_US |
