The purpose of this thesis is to describes the character that portrayed in The Cinderella and Bawang Putih dan Bawang Merah and to describe the functional schemes in The Cinderella and Bawang Putih dan Bawang Merah. This thesis used qualitative-descriptive method started by collecting, analyzing, and interpreting the data with the folklores The Cinderella and Bawang Putih dan Bawang Merah as the source of data, and the data in this study are in the form of sentences and quotations that can be considered as character’s function and functional scheme. The theory used to analyze the data found is structuralism theory proposed by Vladimir Propp. The findings of this study are consisted of the sentences and quotations found in the folklore’s that can be considered as character’s function and functional scheme. There are five character’s function and eight functional scheme in The Cinderella and five character’s function and nine functional scheme in Bawang Putih dan Bawang Merah. The sentences or quotations can be interpreted using Vladimir Propp’s structuralism theory of character’s function and functional scheme.
