Perilaku Komsumtif Dan Dampaknya Di Kalangan Siswa Remaja Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA) Dharmawangsa
Abstract
Consumptive behavior often reflects a lifestyle influenced by the increasingly complex development of economic institutions. Consumption not only covers basic needs but also includes items that serve to enhance life's comfort. This study
aims to explore consumptive behavior and its impact on adolescent students,
specifically those at Dharmawangsa Senior High School (SMA Dharmawangsa),
and the factors driving this behavior. The research employs a qualitative method
with a descriptive approach to analyze and describe the forms and impacts of
consumptive behavior at SMA Dharmawangsa. Data collection techniques
involved interviews and observations. The results of the study indicate that
students' consumptive behavior is influenced by various factors, including social
media, peer pressure, and easy access to online shopping platforms. Students
often fall into consumptive behavior to maintain their social status or prestige,
creating pressure to own certain items in order to be accepted within their social
group, even if these items are not truly necessary, which in turn affects their
academic performance.
