Hubungan Antara Kompetensi Perawat Pelaksana Terhadap Kinerja Perawat di Ruang Rawat Inap RSUD Dr. Pirngadi Kota Medan

Abstract

Competency is a holistic concept applied in clinical contexts and consists of various attributes, including knowledge, psyvhomotorskills, andaffective skills. This study aims to identify the relationship between nurses' competency and their performance in the inpatient ward of RSUD Dr. Pirngadi Kota Medan. The study employed a quantitative non-experimental approach using a descriptive-correlational design eith a cross-sectional apporoach. The sampling technique used was random sampling, witha total of 128 nurse respondents. Theresearch was conducted from November 2024 to Januari 2025. Based on data analysis using the Spearman Rho test, the results showed that the majority of respondents (119 nurses or 93.0%) hada highly satisfactory levelof competency. Most nurses also demonstrated a high level of performance, with 112 respondents (87.5%) showing high performance. The analysis revealed a significant relationship between nurses' competency and their performance, witha p-value of 0.002 (<0.05) and a correlationcoefficient (r) of 0.273, indicating a positive correlation. This implies that the higher the competency level of the nurses, the better their performance. The study concludes that there is a significant relationship between nurses' competency and performance in the inpatient ward of RSUD Dr. Pirngadi Kota Medan.
