    Abstract
Background: Tuberculosis is a contagious infectious disease that remains a health problem in Indonesia. Community’s knowledge and attitudes towards TB play an important role in preventing its transmission. Objective: To determine the differences of community characteristics with the level of knowledge, attitudes, and prevention of TB and to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge, attitudes, and prevention of TB in the community in Medan Johor sub-district, Medan City. Method: This cross-sectional descriptive study using the modified questionnaires to assess the level of knowledge, attitude, and prevention of TB. The collecting data was conducted from July-October 2024. Result: The results indicated the level of knowledge about TB (70%), attitudes towards TB (90%), and prevention against TB (78%), all categorized as good. Respondent characteristics included ages 18-35 (56.3%), females (61.9%), high school graduates (46.1%), and private employees (32.7%). The mean scores for knowledge, attitudes, and prevention > 7 categorized as good. Kruskal-wallis test showed that age and education were associated with knowledge about TB (p<0.05), occupation was linked to attitudes towards TB (p<0.05). The Spearman's rho test revealed a significant but weak correlation between attitudes towards TB and knowledge about TB (r = 0.112), as well as between attitudes and TB prevention (r = 0.303). Conclusion: There was a relationship between respondent characteristics, knowledge and attitudes of TB. There was a significant association between TB related attitudes and knowledge and TB related prevention with a weak correlation in Medan Johor sub-district.
