dc.description.abstract | The mangrove ecosystem plays a crucial role in climate change mitigation
by storing large amounts of carbon. This study aims to analyze carbon stocks in the
mangrove ecosystem in Pangkalan Siata Village, Langkat Regency. The method
used is a non-destructive method with an allometric approach to estimate mangrove
biomass and carbon stocks. Data collection was conducted at 10 research stations
selected through purposive sampling based on vegetation density. The results of the
study show that carbon sequestration in the mangrove ecosystem in Pangkalan
Siata Village has a value of 1,035,416 tons of CO₂e, with an economic valuation
under the mandatory market scheme amounting to IDR 227,294,654,857 and under
the voluntary market scheme amounting to IDR 86,974,995,481. Environmental
factors such as fraction and substrate category have a positive correlation with
mangrove density, whereas temperature has a negative correlation with mangrove
density. This research is expected to serve as a reference for mangrove conservation
efforts and to raise awareness of the importance of this ecosystem in carbon
emission reduction and climate change mitigation. | en_US |
