The Impact of the Existence of Pandan Beach Tourism Objects on the Income of Coastal Communities in Pandan District, Central Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra Province
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the impact of the existence of Pantai Pandan
tourist attraction on the income of the coastal communities in Kecamatan Pandan,
Tapanuli Tengah Regency, North Sumatra Province. Pantai Pandan has become a
significant source of income for the local community, particularly in sectors such
as trade, facility rentals, and tourism services. A qualitative research method was
employed, involving in-depth interviews with local residents directly engaged in
economic activities around the tourist destination. The findings indicate that the
presence of this tourist attraction has a positive impact on the income of the local
community, especially on weekends and public holidays. However, the income
generated is highly influenced by factors such as weather conditions, security,
and the number of visitors. Furthermore, inadequate infrastructure and facilities
pose challenges to maximizing the income potential from tourism. This study also
recommends the enhancement of tourism facilities, training programs for the
community on tourism management, and the development of better infrastructure
to support the sustainability and growth of Pantai Pandan’s tourism sector. It is
expected that with improvements in these areas, Pantai Pandan can provide
greater and more sustainable economic benefits for the local community.
