dc.description.abstract | This research aims to describe the formation process of the Mechanized Infantry Battalion 121/Macan Kumbang and the development of the Mechanized Infantry Battalion 121/Macan Kumbang. This research uses qualitative research with a historical method. The historical method consists of four stages, namely: heuristics, verification, interpretation, and historiography. In the heuristic stage, the data used is divided into two, namely: primary data in the form of documents obtained from the Mechanized Infantry Battalion 121/Macan Kumbang and Kodam I/Bukit Barisan, photographs belonging to informants, interviews, and books from the same period as the research; secondary data in the form of journals, theses, books, and also e-books. After obtaining the data, the next stages are verification, interpretation, and the final stage, writing or historiography. The results of this research show that the Mechanized Infantry Battalion 121/Macan Kumbang was formed on November 9, 1957, as the New Army Personnel Settlement Command (KPATB), which aimed to eradicate the PRRI/Permesta rebellion in Tapanuli. In its development, the Mechanized Infantry Battalion 121/Macan Kumbang has undergone three relocations, changed battalion commanders 23 times, carried out several combat and non-combat operations domestically, participated twice in world peacekeeping missions, and achieved several unit accomplishments. | en_US |
