Introduction : Studies have shown that people with epilepsy often have inadequate vitamin D levels. The neurological role of vitamin D3 is supported by the presence of specific vitamin D3 receptors and enzymes found in neurons and glial cells throughout the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nervous system. Preclinical and preliminary human data suggest that vitamin D3 plays a role in inhibiting seizures through membrane and genomic mechanisms. Objective : To determine the association between vitamin D levels and seizure frequency in patients with epilepsy. Metode : This study is an observational analytical study with a cross-sectional design. This study was conducted at the Outpatient Installation of the H. Adam Malik Medan General Hospital from February 2024 to May 2024. The data used in this study were primary data in the form of laboratory examination results. Vitamin D levels were measured by examining total vitamin D25(OH) and data from medical records. Data analysis was carried out univariately and bivariately. Univariate analysis was used to obtain demographic and clinical characteristics of the study subjects. Bivariate analysis with the Pearson correlation test was used to assess the association between vitamin D levels and seizure frequency. Results : This study involved 30 epilepsy patients with Vitamin D levels in the subjects of this study were mostly low, with an average of 22.97 ± 6.41 ng / mL consisting of insufficiency (21-29 ng / mL) of 15 people (50%), deficiency (≤ 20 ng / mL) of 11 people (36.7%), and normal as many as 4 people (13.3%). No significant relationship was found between vitamin D levels and the frequency of seizures in epilepsy patients (p = 0.302). Conclusion : There is no significant association between vitamin D levels and the frequency of seizures in epilepsy patients.en_US
