The tourism sector in Indonesia is experiencing rapid growth, driving an increasing demand for tourism infrastructure, including functional and aesthetically pleasing accommodations. Medan, as an urban tourism hub in North Sumatra, presents significant potential for the development of a mix-use hotel on Jalan Iskandar Muda—a strategic location with high land value. The mix-use concept is chosen to optimize land use by integrating accommodation, retail, and entertainment functions within a single building while incorporating modern architectural principles. This study aims to explore the integration of functionality and aesthetics in mix-use hotel design and to identify modern architectural characteristics that can be applied. The methodology includes data collection through surveys, field observations, and literature analysis. The research findings are expected to provide insights into the design of mix-use hotels that not only fulfill functional needs but also contribute to the urban landscape aesthetics in Medan.en_US
