Perancangan Sekolah Alam dengan Pendekatan Arsitektur Biofilik di Kota Medan
Designing Nature School with Biophilic Architectural Approach in Medan City
Abstract
Nature school is a school with an educational concept that utilizes nature as an active learning medium. The nature school learning method is carried out in an open space by utilizing the potential of the school environment. The purpose of this study is to explore aspects of nature school design including concepts, curriculum, learning methods, activities, and facilities with a biophilic architecture approach. The method used in this study is a qualitative research method with an architectural ethnographic approach, where data is obtained through observation and interview results. Observations are made by observing the research subjects directly, then mapping the physical conditions of the site and buildings. Interviews are conducted by recording the informants in the form of video and audio, then transcribed word for word. This study found that aspects of nature school design must consider the concept of using nature as a learning medium, a curriculum that prioritizes moral development, learning methods that explore nature more, activities such as gardening, livestock, outbound, and outings, and facilities such as open classrooms in the form of huts or stilt houses surrounded by nature. This research is expected to be used to design a nature school that is comfortable and enjoyable for students.
