Greehouse gas (GHG) emission in Medan increased in 2022, compared with that in 2021. An effort to decrease the emission through GHG mitigation in Medan has not been carried out maximally public participation is required. The objective of this research is to analyze some factors which influence GHG mitigation in the sectors of energy and home waste in Medan. The research uses a survey method with cross sectional design. The population is 52.097 houses, and 270 of them are used as the samples. Multivariate analysis is conducted using PLS- SEM for examining some factors which influence GHG mitigation. Seven sub-districts are selected as the research locations: Medan Deli, Medan Hevetia, Medan Marelan, Medan Denai, Medan Johor, Medan Amplas, and Medan Tembung. Inclusion criterion is families that do not have any business/ farming/animal husbandry activities. The result of the research shows that the maximum of inhabitants in a family is 13 persons, and the largest number of family members who work and go to schools is five persons. The maximum of consuming fuel of Pertalite, Pertamax, and solar is 500 liters, 900 liters, and 352.94 liters respectively. The family's minimum of total income and expenditures is IDR 1,000,000. One family still uses kerosene, and one family uses firewood for cooking. The largest GHG emission in families comes from solid waste of incinerator. Structure Equation Modeling (SEM) prediction model shows that some factors which influence GHG mitigation in the sectors of energy in families in Medan cannot be made due to the variables of endogen and exogen have no influence in each other. SEM prediction model shows that some factors which influence GHG mitigation in the sector of waste in families in Medan are the characteristics of houses which influence GHG emission in the sector of waste and GHG emission in the sector of waste which influences GHG mitigation in the sector of waste.
