Management of Nursing Care to Fulfill Sleep Needs for Insomniac Elderly in Padang Bulan Selayang 1 Village
Abstract
Older people (seniors) are a human age group that has entered the final stages of life. This recommended group of elderly will experience a process called the aging process or aging process. Sleep disorders or insomnia are difficulty falling asleep, restless sleep, frequent waking up in the middle of the night, and frequent waking up early. History of sleep problems, current sleep hygiene, history of medications used, partner reports, sleep records, and nighttime polysomnograms need to be evaluated in elderly people who complain of sleep disorders. Complaints of sleep disorders that are often expressed by the elderly include insomnia, sleep rhythm disturbances and sleep apnea. The aim of students is to be able to provide comprehensive care for elderly people with insomnia by providing sleep needs in Padang Bulan Selayang 1 Village. This case study method uses data collection in the form of observation, interviews, measurement and documentation methods. The instrument in this case uses the PSQI measuring scale. The results obtained were that 5 respondents had different levels of sleep quality, with progressive muscle relaxation carried out for 3 days. It is hoped that non-pharmacological therapy in the form of progressive muscle relaxation can improve the sleep quality of the elderly.
