Pengelolaan Asuhan Keperawatan Nyeri Neuropati Pasien Diabetes Melitus Tipe II dengan Terapi Relaksasi Otot pada Lansia di Kelurahan Asam Kumbang Medan Selayang

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is a metabolic disorder caused by the failure of the pancreas to produce the hormone insulin adequately. High blood sugar levels in the blood exceed the normal limit, namely normal blood sugar levels before eating 70-130 mg/dl and after eating, blood sugar levels will rise from the normal limit, namely less than 140 mg/dl after 2 hours. When fasting for 8 hours, normal blood sugar levels are less than 100 mg/dl. One of the complications of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus is neuropathic pain. Management of Diabetes Mellitus patients is divided into 2, namely pharmacological and non-pharmacological. In carrying out this senior practice, the nurse provides nursing care for Diabetes Mellitus clients with non-pharmacological management, namely with Muscle Relaxation Therapy intervention which aims to reduce or reduce the pain of Neuropathy in Diabetes Mellitus sufferers. Nursing care was carried out for 2 weeks starting from 13 May - 25 May 2024 for 5 patients suffering from Diabetes Mellitus with the main complaints of numbness and pain in the hands, feet and hands. The results of the implementation showed that 5 patients had reduced numbness and pain in the patient's feet and hands after undergoing muscle relaxation therapy for 3 days accompanied by the patient regularly taking medication and starting to reduce excessive consumption of food containing purine substances.
