Potential Feed source for honey bee in Durin Tonggal Village and Sugau Village, Pancur Batu District, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra Province
Abstract
Non Timber Forest Product (NTPFS) products are an important component in the
forest ecosystem and have an important role in the community's economy,
especially people living around forest areas. This research aims to identify types of
bee food plants and determine the flowering schedule of nectar and pollen
producing plants as a source of bee food in Durin Tonggal Village and Sugau
Village. The research method used in this research is a method where the research
stages consist of data collection, namely using primary data, secondary data and
data analysis. The research results show that the availability of honeybee food
plants in Durin Tonggal Village and Sugau Village is very diverse. Identified 46
types of plants that have potential as food sources for honey bees. In Durin Tonggal
village there are 26 types of honey bee food plants, while in Sugau village there are
40 types of bee food plants. The flowering schedule for bee food plants in Durin
Tonggal Village and Sugau Village There are 22 types of plants that flower
throughout the year, 18 plants in certain months and 6 plants depending on the
planting season.
