Morsicatio buccarum is an oral condition caused by compulsive cheek biting behavior. Stress and anxiety are known to play significant roles in iniciating cheek biting. This study aims to determine the relationship between stress and anxiety with the severity of cheek biting in patients with morsicatio buccarum. This is an analytical observational study with a cross-sectional approach, conducted at Faculty of Dentistry Universitas Sumatera Utara in June-July 2024. A total of 30 subjects were selected using the purposive sampling technique with predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were collected using the Perceived Stress Scale-10 to measure stress, Zung-Self Anxiety Rating Scale to measure anxiety, and the modified Massachusetts General Hospital-Hair Pulling Scale to measure the severity of cheek biting. Data were analyzed using Fisher's Exact test. The results showed that the majority of subjects experienced moderate stress (43.3%) and mild anxiety (56.7%). The most common severity of cheek biting was moderate severity (46.7%). There was a significant association between stress (p=0.007) and anxiety (p=0.025) with cheek biting severity. Hence, this study concludes that there is a relationship between stress and anxiety with cheek biting severity in patients with morsicatio buccarum at Faculty of Dentistry Universitas Sumatera Utara.en_US
