An Overview of Radiolucency, Interlayer Line, Overhanging and Void in Direct Restoration of Mandibular Posterior Teeth Viewed from Digital Periapical Radiographs.
Abstract
Direct restorations are placed by applying the restorative material directly to the prepared tooth. Periapical radiographs are often used to detect and evaluate restorations in dentistry. This study aims to determine the prevalence of radiolucency under the restoration, interlayer line, overhanging, and voids in terms of digital periapical radiographs. This research method is a descriptive study with a cross-sectional approach with 55 samples of digital periapical radiographs of mandibular posterior teeth. The results of this study obtained the highest prevalence of findings was radiolucency under the restoration (79.2%), the second finding was overhanging (13.9%), the third finding was void (9.7%) and the lowest finding was interlayer line (1.4%). The conclusion of this study in terms of digital periapical radiographs of mandibular posterior teeth with direct restorations was that the prevalence of radiolucency findings under the restoration was 79.2%, the prevalence of interlayer lines was 1.4%, the prevalence of overhanging was 13.9% and the prevalence of voids was 9.7%.
