Pengaruh Pemberian Ekstrak Kulit Jengkol (Pithecellobium lobatum Benth.) terhadap Waktu Pembekuan Darah

Abstract

Bleeding control is an important step during a tooth extraction procedure because excessive bleeding can complicate the operation and increase the risk of post-tooth extraction bleeding. To avoid such complications, when long-term bleeding occurs, traditional techniques and various hemostatic agents have been provided as additional measures to improve hemostasis during and postoperatively to control bleeding. Therefore, researchers utilized the medicinal power contained in natural waste, namely jengkol peel (Pithecellobium lobathum Benth.) to speed up the bleeding time after tooth extraction. The aim of the researchers was to determine the effect of administering jengkol bark extract (Pithecellobium lobathum Benth.) on blood clotting time. This type of research is a post test only control group design. This study used 96% ethanol extract of jengkol peel with concentrations of 0.5%, 1% and 1.5% as well as normal controls, namely blood without administration of jengkol peel extract. The research data were analyzed using One-Way ANOVA and post-hoc test. The results showed an average concentration of 0.5% (2 minutes 12 seconds), 1.0% (1 minute 49 seconds), 1.5% (2 minutes 33 seconds) and normal control (2 minutes 28 seconds). It was concluded that 1.0% jengkol peel extract could speed up blood clotting time.
